Ahoy, it’s Link From The Legend of Zelda! I spent about half an hour sketching this from this beautiful reference picture using a grid aide. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this process, heres a brief description as to how this is done:
- Find a reference picture
- Apply a grid to the picture
- Create another grid with the ratio that you wish to enlarge or draw the new image
- Use the grid to help distinguish where lines meet to form the shapes of the figure.
When drawing the new image, I like to start from the center of the image and work outwards. It gives me a better sense of proportion. Often when starting from the arms of legs I can become loss in how big they are actually supposed to be. Drawing the body first helps generate a solid idea of the right size compared to the body.
In the end, you can get a pretty accurate drawing of the image you were trying to replicate! This is a fun way of learning to draw shapes and figures while creating a copy.
