After a two and half week hiatus the Go Green Campaign is finally back on track.  For those of you who don’t quite know what this is all about, I’ll explain it briefly.  This is an unsponsored event in which I create an advertisement campaign for an imaginary company.  Throughout the campaign I will produce various mediums of advertisements ranging from textual blurbs, to web adverts, to print style ads. You can find all of these examples under my previous campaign to which this is modeled after: This is Blue.

Also note that “Green” is not a real company. It is simply a color.  No money is made from creating these campaigns. Its sole intentions are to better myself as a designer by exploring new techniques.

Below are three 728×90 Banner advertisements that would run on a web environment.

Using darker shades of green this banner gives an earthy hand woven feel.  The tag line being “Possibilities for the future” presents the idea that green is a resource that we will need to turn to in order to survive.  I like the presentation on this design and it would do well on both a dark background and a light background observed here.

This advertisement utilizes typography and a faint background to draw attention to itself.  It presents the standard definition of green from dictionary.com highlighting the fact that green is actually complex.  The tag line “Put simply, green is the color of life” is the real focal point here which gets viewers to think.

Following the same theme as the second banner but with a more direct approach.  It clearly advertises and advocates a website (no affiliation with Jessetalks) which promotes “green.”  The simplicity of this banner brings forth the element of cleanliness.  I enjoy looking at this banner as the meassage is straight foward.

The Go Green Campaign will continue as I find new innovative ways to bring forth the color green.  I want to do some kind of photographic advertisements, but I don’t really have the proper cameras to do that.  Maybe in the future.

Following the footsteps of my This is Blue Campaign, comes the epic Go Green Campaign.  For those of you unfamiliar with what these two campaigns are about, it is an advertising campaign for an imaginary company.  In this case the company is the color green.  Throughout the campaign period I will develop several advertisements which could run on various media ranging from magazines, to the internet.

Because these are not real companies, no profit is made from any of these campaigns.  They are simply done to better myself as a designer and artist.  It is also my goal to help influence other artists to be creative and develope campaigns of their own.

Below are two 330×300 advertisements which would normally run on a web environment.  Although this is not the standard size for advertisements so it would be resized before it could actually run.

In this advertisement I wanted to portray a friendly, out-going message.  It grabs your attention from the page, because it is not what everyone is used to seeing.  The message is subtle but effective. You will notice that I’ve also embedded the new Jessetalks “mascot” into the design. No, that’s not his real name though…. it’s just for the purpose of the campaign.

This advertisement is a little more straight forward.  The message is displayed in the whole advertisement, and the viewer doesn’t have to look hard to see what it’s all about.  The tagline effectively plays off the whole famous person endorsement sterotype.

Jessetalks is in no way affiliated with http://www.gogreen.com.  The tagline and idea behind this campaign is used as a purely representation of the color green.  Reproduction for education uses only.

The final installment to the This Is Blue Campaign is a set of 300×250 advertisements. These are a common size found on a lot of websites.  To be honest I wouldn’t really call these designs advertisements because they do not produce strong messages.  The designs are still decent and at least memorable.

The third installment to the This Is Blue Campaign takes off with full page advertisements.  Both are quite different in design targeting two separate audiences.  Hopefully you’ll find them interesting enough take take more than a glance at.

This advertisement could be diversely used in every magazine.  It’s simplistic elegant design is stunningly attractive.  In addition to the three word tagline the viewer is likely to associate with this poster again in the future.  I think that I portrayed a strong message with this design.

This design is not as strong as the first one.  It’s main target would be teenage girl magazine readers.  If I decided to further progress this design I would probably remove the flowers from the wave pattern.  I think they are bit distracting and takes away from the main concept of the poster.  Unfortunately it’s a little too late to fix the paper drawing and I have no plans to continue working with this design.

This set of advertisements would be used on your Google adsense type blocks.  They are designed to attract users by presenting something that is completely different from the probable page. Due to the spacial limits of this page, you will need to click on the banner to see the full image.

Blue!?! But all the text is green! But the message is clearly evident… even green want’s to be blue.  I tried to invision the other colors as a competitor to the product blue.  A technique often seen in advertising is comparing their product to their so-called competitor product.  By using green to draw in people who enjoy green they are subtly given the suggestion of “purchasing” blue.

The high contrast of the flourscent blue and black quickly force the user to focus on the banner.  I chose to use flying orbs as the background base because that provided for a decent flow from left to right.

Your classic blue line. Simple blue attractive. I didn’t want this banner too flashy or to take away too much from the display page. The user gets the message even if they don’t read the banner’s text because the banner is made up of the product… and nothing blue the product.  It’s simplicity might even attract more attention that a really flashy design like #2.

Don’t worry, it’s only going to change the background color.

This is Blue is an advertising Campaign that I worked on over the couse of last year and through the Summer.  I have chosen to advertise the color blue rather than a real live company which produces a product.  This was quite an interesting and challenging project for me; especially in this first set of advertisements.

You will notice that all three of the advertisements created are in black and white.  For someone trying to sell the color blue, I’m wasn’t off to a good start eh?  The purpose behind this excercise was to design advertisements that will attract users not by color but by some interesting aspect of it.  Each of the quarter page (although may appear in different dimensions on my blog) brings forth something different and unusual about the color blue.

When you first think of blue, you think of water.  This is where the design starts to attract you.  Then once you are aware of the pattern being shown you are then taking notice on what it’s made up of.  The word Blue repeated hundreds of times.  To me this is an effective mode of advertising because the product becomes part of the design.  Repeating blue makes people remember what the advertisement is all about.

This advertisement design targeted interactivity into the concept.  Instead of making people remember the name, I wanted people to remember their actions associated with the brand.  People are more likely to remember coloring in a picture than viewing a black and white advert.  The theme is circulating around the color blue in reference to the ocean and a sunset.

This is your average run of the mill design… Sort of.  Its unique almost abstract looks brings attention to the image as well as helps the viewer recognize the image and brand in the future.  This image circulates around rain and the ocean.

There will be more parts to this campaign which will be posted soon.  I have a bunch of advertisements already lined up for posting.  So maybe the start of this school year won’t be so postless after all.
