Just a tad late with the Rapid Draw.  (Originally supposed to be released yesterday, Aug. 22) In this session everyone is wearing a hat that expresses what they do.  A few are inspired by my real life friends, but the majority is just the quickest idea that came to mind.

Their names, in order of appearance: Melanie, Santa, Caz, Billy, George, Morgan. Send in your suggestions for themes, or comment and name the characters yourself!

Today’s Rapid Draw is a special animal edition!  So really the slogan should be “As many animals as possible in five minutes.”  The characters were modeled after the designs from this royalty-free clip art site. I made a few modifications to them of course to save time and create a slightly different look. You’re looking at an enhanced version below. If you want to see the real sketch, before edit, click on the image below.

Also, I’m trying out a new Rapid Draw logo. featured below.  It’s a lot simpler but I think it’s lacking something.  A final version will be released soon.  Perhaps a paint brush or so will be added in the background.

Rapid Draw – Session Three

Another day, another rapid draw.  My mind was kind of wandering far off into imagination land this time around as I’ve drawn some pretty far off characters.  Appearing in this order: Geoff the cyclops, Merlin the wizard (of course), Penelope the farm girl, Dexter the geek, and Judis.

If I had an extra minute to finish off the last person, she would probably be named Cleo.  You can guess what the sketch would look like.  Maybe I’ll try and get her finished in tomorrow’s rapid draw. (Or she’ll be faceless forever!)

Rapid draw session two features six new “rapidly drawn” characters. (In order from left to right, top to bottom) Nana Lou, Chip, Manny, Pedro, Jeff, and Princess Diana. Personally I think Nana Lou makes everyone else look bad; especially Manny. Somehow my pencil went a little funny when it came to him.  Oh well, there’s always room for improvement!

You can suggest a rapid draw character idea by using the contact form on the top of this page.  Although I’ll probably ignore your idea and draw whats on the top of my head anyway. Still, it’s worth a shot though!

I’ve decided that I’m going to start a new drawing series called “Rapid Draw.”  The goal of this project is to draw as many faces as possible, once per day, in five minutes. As a viewer you will see a very rough sketchy quick draw of the various faces I’ve drawn for the day posted here.

Personally I hope that this will further my drawing skills because it will force me to neglect the small details.  As a slight perfectionist most of the details I stress over don’t really make that much of a difference anyway.  I guess this is sort of my personal method of “mind training.”

The faces names from left to right, top to bottom are: Yuri, Don, Sam, Gerry, Judy (the girl), Ben.  No particular reason for naming them other than how the name matches wil the facial expression.
