Negative Space Flower Study

It was originally done in pencil, however the shading didn’t come out when I scanned it so I digitally recreated the shading.

Disney’s Tron inspired art also based on the work of my friend Jude.

I’m also working on a coloring of it.

Jim Halpert played by John Krasinki on The Office.

It ended up having a cartoon type feel to it unlike my BJ Novak sketch. Although I think it works well with the drawing. I need to learn how to draw mouths =/

Radial Symmetry 2

My second take on radial symmetric art (the condition of having similar parts arranged around a central canvas).  The main goal of this project was to take a “slice” of the circle and rotate it around six pieces to form a intertwining design.  It was really a matter of drawing random lines in hopes of producing a decent design.  After it was all drawn out, I began to take further interest in figuring out how to take it from a jumbled mess to a clean cut piece.

I decided upon using various shades of gray to create an interesting and eye catching piece. The final product came out very well and I’m satisfied with it. Unfortunately the file size is too big to display it always rotating so you’ll just have to admire it stationary.

Aladdin Sketch

Finally found some inspiration from good old Disney channel.  This is a sketch of Aladdin.  I sort of messed up the face a bit (as usual) but at least the body looks great.  Shading this was quite fun and I’m looking forward to doing more of the characters from Aladdin when I have the time.  Scanner sort of killed the quality, believe me it looks much richer in person. Any ideas on who I should do next?

… It’s been quite a rough week for me and I’m feeling quite uninspired. Hopefully this will pick things up a bit and keep my creativity flowing.

Graphite Logos

This is what happens when I have a few minutes to kill.  I really don’t know what I was going for by doing this but for pure amusement.  Anyway, above is a collection of six randomly designed logos in gray scale.  The drawing to the left of every image is just a quick graphite gradient style sketch that would represent the wording.

My favorite would have to be “fire dropplet.”  I find that the shading on it was done pretty well.
