Omgupload.com Banner

Last night it was announced that my banner has won the design contest hosted by omgupload.com!  This is quite a surprise to me.  I’ve seen alot of the other entries posted on the forums and many were better then mine, in my opinion.  I suppose the main reason that mine had a chance was because of the color scheme.  The other banners featured more blue tones.

Mat and I should be in contact soon about the prize: 2 months of premium on Habbos.net, 10 Club Sofas on the teen chat game Habbo.com, and my banner used on faveup.com to promote omgupload.  I’m quite excited about the faveup promotion because faveup is quite well known site across the design community. The ad will also have 219,000 impressions which is quite a remarkable amount.

So all in all after a multitude of design plans which I never followed, I’ve reached a second victory.  My congratulations goes out to all the other entries though.  They’ve got some serrious design talent that I’ve enjoyed competing with.  I’m really hoping omgupload will host more competitions of this sort. Even if it’s not for advertisement purposes.

Combining the lyrics of Gotta Find You by Shane Gray and Mitchie you get This Is Me, the finale song in Camp  Rock.  The two singers find out who they are on the inside for the first time after portraying contradicting images of themselves.  This motivational song is quite inspiring if you ask me… the critics think otherwise. I hope you enjoy the song! Feel free to comment on the youtube page, or in my blog with any suggestions or lyric corrections.

All the images of Joe Jonas used in this video can be found at JoeJonasPhotos.com. The images of Demi Lovato can be found at Demi-Lovato.com. However if you’re short on time, you can download all the images directly here. Please note to promote visiting JoeJonasPhotos and Demi-Lovato, a few of the images have been watermarked. If you would like the original untouched images, make sure you visit the main sites.

The New Music Spotlight video, is nearly completed and will be uploaded very soon as well. Stay tuned to my blog and my channel to find out who was featured!

New Music spotlight coming soon

A few days ago I promised I’d get a new video up by today. As you can see, that hasn’t really happened. With only four hours left in the day (Hawaii time) it doesn’t look good. So I suppose I should babble out a few excuses as to why I’ve neglected to post the video up in time.  Well, it’s simple… I’m actually still working on it. I’m working on a few videos to be honnest.

One of my subscribers pitched the idea to me that it would be a great idea to feature new an aspiring artists.  You know, the normal youtuber who’s trying to get their start in the music world.  I thought this was a great idea.  This is the main reason as to why “This is Me” wasn’t posted… yet.  I’ve been scouring the internet looking for some talent on youtube.  I won’t say who I’ve picked to be the first ever “New Music Spotlight” on my channel, but I can say it’s a good one.  Maybe you’ve even seen some of his videos.

Anyway, I probably shouldn’t promise an actual date this time around.  However I do plan to get both videos up really soon. I appologize for my failure to follow through. It’s coming though… be patient.

Doodle of Dave from music from Blue Skies

My “Doodle” version of Dave from Blue Skies.  A band and artist that I’ve talked about before on my blog.  I’ll be sending this to Dave over the next few days in hopes that he will like it. The version you’re viewing above, is not quite complete.  Although the original photo cuts off there, I want to extend the picture futher.  Adding in the rest of the torso and body would do the art wonders.

I’m not one for faces so there will won’t be much added in that category. I do plan to add in the background and maybe try to add in more people into the overall design. Perhaps Nerimon singing over Dave’s shoulder or something?

We’ll see there this goes…. Dave if you’re reading this (or even know who I am for that matter), I’ll be sending this your way soon.

Camp Rock This is Me

Did you love Camp Rock? Well, I have to admit that I found the movie quite enjoyable… especially under Disney standards.  There was a lot of emotion going on and the actors did a great job of portraying the message of the film – To be yourself.  Previously I posted a video on youtube for Gotta Find You sung by Joe Jonas.  It’s still not too late to check that out.  However I wanted to make an announcement that I will be releasing another Camp Rock video very soon. (Probably within the next four days)

Here is a quick preview of the song, This is Me:

Omgupload Final Call

Well… They’re in.  That’s right, my omgupload banner contest submission has finally been sent.  I’m up against some tough competition this time around so I have no idea how this is going to playout. All I can say is, I’ll be glad to know I won (or lost) against some amazing art.

What I find to be hilarious is that I didn’t choose any of my design concepts. [one | two]. I went with an entirely different concept that just popped into my head a few minutes before I begun work on the project. I suppose going on a whim at the last moment isn’t always the best thing to do. However in this instance, I’m glad I did.

Hopefully I won’t get disqualified for submitted two designs (eek!). However I did mention to use the first design in the event that I’m only allowed one submission. Here’s the artwork at a glance:

Wish me luck 🙂

“You’re the voice I hear inside my head. The reason that I’m singing. I need to find you. I gotta find you.” Joe Jonas’ song from Disney’s Camp Rock is an amazingly simple peice. However it is in this simplicity that they lyrics become powerful. This piece is about someone search for love, and can’t seem to find the right person. He is stuck in the past and can’t move on to new relationships or one that satisfys or matches his previous. (Or at least that is how I interpret it)

Take a look at the video and interpret the lyrics for yourself.  If you really feel ambitious you can purchase the song from itunes. As always I will refuse to give you any downloads to the song file. Support the Jonas Brothers.

However if you would like the images for the video you can either visit the source: JoeJonasPictures.com, or download them all here.  My download contains several images which have been watermarked to promote you getting the direct download from JoeJonasPictures. I do not gaurentee the uptime of my hosted download. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Note: The download pack host has been changed to a new more reliable provider. Also not that the file size is 9.82mb due to several images which are over 1000×1000 pixels.

Omgupload.com Concepts 2.0

omgupload large

Pictured above is another concept I have for my omgupload.com 200×100 banner submission.  The only problem as you may have noticed is that I’ve done the sketch in a larger dimension  (390×230).  I was just experimenting around with a design so I didn’t start off in the correct dimension specs.

Right now I’m trying to resize the graphic to the apropriate size but I’m having no luck. The porportion just isn’t working out.  Also during the resign the “www.omgupload.com” and “share with the world” text gets a little too small to read properly.  I really want to continue working with this design so I’ll have to recreate it in the correct size.

On a side note, this is the first work I’ve done using the opensource vector program inkscape.  Surprisingly it’s quite a simple program to use.  After toiling around for about half an hour I’d say I have it down on a basic level. Don’t you think so too?

Anyway, final submissions for the banner contest close on Friday.  I’ll be working a bit late into the night to get this done as I have numerous other obligations to attend to at this current time.

I’m having trouble deciding on a concept that I want to use for my omgupload.com banner entry. I’ve thought of a few, but I don’t think that they are too graphically pleasing to the eye. The user may ended up distracted by something other than the main point – omgupload.com.

These are my first few concepts. (Remember they are concepts so they are just quick sketches of a possible design that I may follow through with)

omgupload banner concepts

I like my first concept but I don’t know if the space factor will hinder the quality of the real image.  I wanted to incorporate a real person shouting in the image.  I’ll have to see what happens when I reduce the image size to fit the banner size.  I don’t want it to look too tacky either :S

Well just sharing some thought in the design process. Eventually I’ll post the final product.

A few weeks ago (maybe a few days ago?) I posted something about my omgupload.com banner submission entry. A few minutes ago I found out that they have selected it as their winning entry. I’m pretty ecstatic about this win even though it shouldn’t be that much of a deal. I guess the whole thought of my banner winning is a prize in itself.

Omgupload.com has also released a new contest in which I will also be participating. It’s another banner advertisement campaign but with a new twist. The management of omgupload wants to do some banner advertising on Faveup.com, which is sort of like a logo/banner blog collection for “creativity block” artist. Anyway the main twist isn’t about where the site is hosted but about the image size limitation. (200x100px)

To me that isn’t a lot to work with, but I suppose I’ll have to think of something. After all, If I have any plans to do this for a living I’ll have to be able to deal with whatever size restriction my employer gives me. I’m thinking of doing something along the lines of “About me magazine” design. I don’t know… I’ll just have to see where my mind leads me.

June Youtube Statistics

I guess this statistics thing is starting to become a bimonthly exercise. I also wanted to include my two newest videos in the stats log so that I have a better reference point at the end of the month on how they are doing. Plus I’m quite bored at the moment and wanted a long tedious task to accomplish ^_^

Without further ado here is the first youtube stats log for June. Click on the green arrows to the left of every title to go to the video page. Red flags indicate that the video has accumulated more than 10,000 hits since the last update; and white flags indicate that the video has over 30 new comments since the last update.

Summer Layout

Posted: June 10, 2008 in Brain Ecstasy

If you’re a frequent visitor, then you’ll notice a layout change. If you’re not a frequent visitor then I hope that you’ll become one. Anyway, I’ve decided to go along with a more summer feel to my blog. Change is good right? I think it’s quite nice… But I would like to get your opinion if you want to give it. [post a comment or message me on youtube]

Oh and I realize that I haven’t kept to my word with whole Topic of the Day type thing I posted a while back. I suppose I’ll be digging down deep to find some interesting topics. I won’t promise when I’ll write something up for that, but I can say that it will be soon 🙂

-until next time.

My Shiny Teeth Animation

Eight hours of listening to an insanely catchy tune starts making you a bit crazy. Anyway I’ve completed a project that I’ve been working on for months… little by little. It’s basically a rough animation comprised of roughly 190 images promoting dental hygiene. Doesn’t sound to exciting but just watch the video. Hopefully it will make you smile. (For those who don’t know who sings this it’s: My Shiny Teeth and Me, Chip Skylark)

I’ll be back to doing regular videos over the next few weeks. I have no plans to devote so much time to animation this summer. I just wanted to finish up on that project that I’ve been putting off for several months. Not saying what video I’ll be doing next though…

Pinkidinki101 has sort of inspired me to look for new artists and feature them on my channel. I think that will be a breath of fresh air. (Yes, I know I’ve been doing quite a lot of Jesse McCartney videos). So if you have any suggestions on someone willing to let me use their voice/videos/pictures on my channel, drop me a comment.

Bleeding Love

My new video: Bleeding Love, a cover by Jesse McCartney has just been posted on youtube.com. I never realized how powerful the lyrics really are until writing it out for myself. Jesse has become what I view as a great writer since his Dream Street days. Anyway I hope that you’ll enjoy singing along to this song as much as I had fun making it. [cheesy lines].

Oh and I’m pretty happy that I finally figured out how to use those silly youtube BBC Code tag things. It’s a little different than most sites using BBC code. I’ll be posting any new videos I have using that ingenious method.

omgupload banner submission This is my submission for the omgupload.com banner competition. Hosted on Habbos.net. I’m not sure how many entries there are because all entries were to be submitted by private message.

I find the prizes quite generous for a simple banner ad: 10 Club sofas on Habbo.com.au, Banner featured on alexa.com for two weeks, and 2 months of premium on Habbos.net (where the competition was posted). My main goal for entering is getting featured on Alexa. The club sofas don’t really interest me because that’s not my local Habbo Hotel.

Good luck to the rest of the competitors seeking out the same prize. I’m sure what ever work you submit will be just as awesome as I think mine is.

Anyway apart from the banner, I created the slogan/trademark “share with the world.” The owner and developer of omgupload.com thought that it was fair enough to possibly use it across their site. I have given him full permission to use it any way shape or form as long as he doesn’t intend to charge for his services any time in the future. We’ll just see where that ends up. (So far no changes to the site)

Jesse McCartney is known for his beautiful long blond hair. So what made him chop it all off? His Record Company? Anyway Here is a collection of Jesse’s hair throughout his career as a musician an actor. I did not include his child hood hair because I thought it was just silly 😛

This should satisfy all those people searching for him with his darker hair for the movie Keith as well. Be Happy, I care about your secret obsession.

Wasted, a poem

A poem about a day of summer vacation. Take it as you will. There is no rhyme scheme, so don’t look for or expect one.

Wasted
It was the first day of summer
The air was dry and burning
Yet a soft wind blew ominously
As if suggesting some mischievous sin

It was that kind of day
Where you just pretend the world doesn’t exist
In a passive voice, a quiet voice
I suggested to myself something incredible

The plan reiterated in my mind
Its concepts began grasping,
Consuming every waking thought
It was childish to ponder its possibilities

Twenty four minutes thirty nine seconds passed
I sat in the same idle spot
The same thought still reiterating in my mind
The same ominous wind gently blowing
The same sun moving steadily across the sky.

It was nearly sundown
Yet I’ve done nothing in comparison to incredible
The day has passed
The day, wasted.

~ Daydreaming during summer vacation

Lost Some Subscribers

Posted: May 28, 2008 in Uncategorized

Apparently I lost about 25 subscribers last night. Which I have no Idea why people decide to all unsubscribe at once. Or even unsubscribe at all for that matter. If you’re one of those people please leave me a comment or mail me so that I can makes changes to make my channel better. I’m a bit clueless to why this has happened.

Other than that most of my other videos are doing well. Leavin’ by Jesse McCartney has already collected 95,000 views. That’s pretty cool I suppose 🙂 Anyway I’m planning on doing a few more songs from Jesse’s Departure album. I’ll be getting them up around Sunday or Monday… with or without those 25 subscribers.

What a Bummer,

Jesse

Habbo AU Pixel Press

Habbo.com.au decided to feature my video: “Carol of the Bells – Habbo Style” in their pixel press newsletter. It’s a shame that I wasn’t credited properly though. (Thanks to some noob submitting my video without my permission). I suppose a feature is a feature though.

What’s more impressive is the impact Habbo AU had on the video statistics. The usual hit count for this particular video was less than 15. (It’s a Habbo video, what do you expect?). After one day in the spotlight it spiked to over a 1000% percent increase! (Alright, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit) Still,  +200 views within 24 hours all from a link on a teen site. Pretty amazing for me. [View the stats chart]

I guess I’ll bask in my week long glory. This was almost amazing as Dave using my sunshine sessions banners. … Not quite though, not quite.

To celebrate (Well, not really)

I’ve uploaded another video for Jesse McCartney’s new album departure. This time it’s his introduction song. It has a surprisingly catchy beat even if it’s only a minute or so long. Turn it Up and don’t forget to tell your friends to watch it.
